Over recent years I have enjoyed seeking out the smaller, less obvious hillocks around South Lakeland. Each one provides a slightly different aspect on the 'usual' view of the main Lakes hills. They also show you the nearby geography and help build up a picture of how everything fits together in the landscape. They are much less frequented so make a change from some of the busier, well-known hills. I have put a cache on some of the good spots and other people have provided me with much enjoyment while seeking their caches. This bookmark list is to bring some of these less well known spots together to encourage you to go and find them and enjoy the views. |

An excellent walk with several caches (by various people) along the way, all at great spots to admire the changing scenery and wonderful views. You can start at the A6 or the M6 end, or even on the ridge by the transmitter station. Do either the ridge or the valley first, although my preference would be to park at the M6 end, do the valley first, then come back along the ridge. Those excellent Bog Bears have added 3 more to the ridge on the north side of the valley, giving further great walking options. Not heard of anyone doing both ridges and the valley in one go yet! |

I've long had a thing about islands- This is a list of smaller islands (i.e. not including very cache-heavy offshore British islands such as the Isle of Man, Jersey or the Isle of Wight) and the caches on them. If you see any mistakes, or spot any cache/s I'm missing, please let me know and I'll add them to my list. Thanks! :) |

56 Highest hills & mountains in each of 37 Counties and also the 19 deleted old counties. A fitting mission to bag them all! This is a list of all the caches within 0.2 miles of a County Top. |

The Hewitts are Hills in England, Wales and Ireland over Two Thousand feet (609.6 m), with a relative height of at least 30 m (98 feet). The English and Welsh lists were compiled and are maintained by Alan Dawson; the Irish list is by Clem Clements. The list addresses one of the criticisms of the Nuttalls by requiring hills to have a relative height of 30 m (98 feet), thus excluding the 125 least prominent Nuttalls from the list. |
||
A Marilyn is a type of mountain or hill in Great Britain, Ireland or surrounding islands with a relative height of at least 150 metres (492 ft), regardless of absolute height or other merit. The name was coined as an ironic contrast to the designation Munro, used of a Scottish mountain with a height of more than 3,000 feet (910 m), which is homophonous with (Marilyn) Monroe. |
||
The Nuttalls are hills in England and Wales over 2,000 feet (610 m) with a relative height of at least 15 metres (50 feet). There are 442 Nuttalls in total (253 in England and 189 in Wales). The list was compiled by John and Anne Nuttall and published in two volumes, The Mountains of England & Wales. By including hills that rise by as little as 15 m above their surroundings, the list of Nuttalls is sometimes criticised for including too many insignificant minor tops. The Hewitts (see below) are one attempt to avoid this. |

Caches within 0.1 miles of a Trig Pillar. Visit (visit link) and claim a secondary find! As there are (just) over 500 caches to be listed, there need to be two bookmark lists - this one, and (visit link) |

This is a list of caches near stones that have names shown on maps. Many are glacial erratics, dropped by moving ice sheets. Others have a different origin. Either way, someone thought them important enough to give them a name, which has lasted through the years and is now shown on OS maps. Some are busy locations and others are deep in the hills. Let me know if you know of any named rocks or can put a cache out. See Gray Bull Boulder for more info. |
||
Following a number of requests I thought it was time to collate a listing of this small niche of caches that involves a physical challenge or dare. This could be a climb/descent,dive or jump or maybe just a very difficult physical move or squeeze.. difficulty and terrain grade levels would probably have to be at least grade 3 . |
||
Lots of caches get hidden at TV and Film locations across the UK. This is the list of the ones I know. Feel free to let me know anything great I've missed! |
||
http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/DBY/Beeley/GuideStoop1.html Guide stoops are the forerunners of modern day signposts that were placed by Parliamentary Decree to guide travellers across the bleak Derbyshire landscape in the early 1700's. |

| UK & Irish Geographical Extremes | There's something to be said for caching at the UK and Ireland's extreme points. They're often so far off the beaten track that it feels like you've left the UK or Ireland behind... This is my first attempt at a bookmark list, inspired by the discovery I own both the UK's (and Scotland's) most westerly caches (mainland AND island?!), and England's most westerly too -pure accident! | |
| UK's Moving Caches | Grandfathered (meaning new ones aren't allowed any more, but old, 'historic' ones are ok) moving caches in/from the UK. | |
This list contains caches that are themed around the meridian, or mention the meridian in the description. Caches that are on or close to the meridian by chance, and do not mention this are not included. |

A list of caches within 500m of London Coal Tax posts What are coal tax posts? They are markers that were erected in the 19th century to mark the boundary where coal and wine tax became due on goods entering London. The commonest posts are white painted cast iron posts beside roads, railways and canals, but there are some other types such as granite obelisks. |
||
Caches hidden between 1 May 2000 to 31 Dec 2001, are currently active (as of 5 Feb 07) in the UK and Ireland. |

Feeling bored? Want a puzzle cache to solve at home then when you have the co-ords go out and find a REAL cache? Work these out and you'll have a supply of solved Puzzle caches ready to find. Some of them are great fun too! They are predominantly in the South of England, but I would be happy to have nominations from the entire UK. |
||
A list of caches placed on islands accessible only at low tide. If know of a cache which you feel should be included on this list, please send me an e-mail containing the cache details and I'll be happy to add it, the more the merrier. |

British Isles "highpoints". Caches at the highest mountains in the main British Isles countries (and/or principalities, protectorates, dependencies or whatever you prefer!). The Channel Islands didn't really have a contender last time I checked. |
||
This list was made on the 12th August 2006. At the time of making it there was only 212 active Virtual Caches within the UK. |
||
This list was made on the 12th April 2006. At the time of making it there was only 35 active Webcam Caches within the UK. With Groundspeak banning all webcam & virtual caches at the beginning of 2006, it looks like this number will dwindle through time, and this icon will become extremely scarce and hard to get. |

UK Caches that need to be visited on or in the water. For fellow geocachers with webbed feet. (Please note this does not include SCUBA dive caches for which you can search by attribute) |

These are caches that team FollowMeChaps have done or set ourselves that we feel are accessible by manual or electric wheelchair. Mrs. FMC uses an indoor/outdoor electric chair. As she is what she describes as 'virtually quadriplegic', she feels all the bumps and knocks so we follow the philosophy that if she can do it the majority of other wheelchair users should be able to. Where the cache itself is beyond a comfortable reach from a wheelchair you might want to consider taking an Easyreach stick - we have tried to note this where required. |
